Performance!

An ERS Ensemble is often organized in January for the purpose of performing at the spring Gala Concert.

The Recorder Ensemble and Easy Recorder Playing Ensemble groups are for congeniality, enjoyment and skill development.   Performance is NOT the goal, but members may decide to create an ensemble for the Gala Concert.

ERS Ensemble Winter 2018 & potential 2019
Come play with us!    For 8-10 weeks, we form a new consort of players and prepare a few pieces for the Gala Concert in April.    Rehearsals are once a week, starting in January or February.  We recruit a local recorder expert to create a supportive atmosphere, choose music within our capability - with some challenges, too - and guide us to performance excellence!

New players are welcome.   Our core of regulars include relative beginners as well as advanced players, and we all love to include any and all who may share our joy in creating harmony as a whole.

For more information or to sign up, please  contact us.
There is no charge to join the ensemble; we do hope you would consider becoming an ERS member.

The ERS Ensemble Performs!
For several years now the Edmonton Recorder Society has held a gala concert where our own ERS Ensemble anchors the show and other local, or visiting, acts are invited to perform a few pieces. This annual concert has featured soloists and ensembles of various sizes and instruments with "the recorder" being the unifying thread.

Pirate Overture
by Vince Kelly, premier April 2016

On April 24, 2016, our members, Donna Mae, Margriet, Lori, Dorothy and Vince premiered a piece at the Cosmopolitan Music Society's concert.   Theme of the concert was Folk Music.   The piece, written by Vince Kelly and titled Pirate Overture, includes a secret melody, which listeners were challenged to identify.  The prize was a CD by Maurice Steiger, international professional recorder player.  Further pieces were played by society members and friends Donna Mae, Lori, Alena (guitar) and Frances (bass viol).
